Do you think I'm at a disadvantage for writing good yaoi because I am a guy?

I know that it's generally accepted that yaoi is by women and for women, but I sometimes find myself very sceptical of that... Some people criticise yaoi for being unlike real gay men, but I have to disagree with that, too. I find that there are a lot of BL that I feel like I can relate to as far as the relationships go. Of course some of it is off-the-wall, but I feel like that's true of a lot of love stories in any genre. I think people who say that might just be looking for a way to legitimise mean things they say about people who like BL^^;.

In my last journal, I talked about writing and drawing BL in general... Of course, I've got a lot of BL fan doujins I want to do, but my goal is to eventually start doing original manga. Essentially, I'm just doing doujins to get good enough to actually do an original manga.

I have this idea for a BL story that I've been coming up with lately, though. It's original, and I know I want it to take place in the late 70's or early 80's in a major city. The protagonist would be a professor... probably of history or literature. My main problem with this idea, though, is that I don't know where I want it to take place. I decided that I definitely

I don't know if you seen :devpirrip:'s journal, but he has second degree burns on his foot and ankle from a kitchen fire. Currently, I'm taking care of him. Meanwhile, I've got a very insignificant wrist-sprain that was made worse in the chaos of the fire. That isn't so much of a big deal. The whole thing has left us unable to go to school in the morning, and it was a major interruption to our manga-drawing process>

I'm a little more than halfway through my novels class... I took it so that I would have fewer classes to take during my last two semesters at uni. It still gives me plenty of time to draw, and the class is actually really fun.

Today, I started one of my novel assignments... the book I'm reading is literally pornographic. If it were a fanfic, it would be a 'lemon'... it's graphically descriptive during the sex scenes.

I didn't know I'd ever get assigned to read this sort of thing in school.

Did you know that a lot of people are allergic to kiwis? You may not have a noticeable reaction by just eating a bit. But if you eat a substantial amount, you might be surprised at how bad you feel.

So for the first time, yesterday, I ate about half a kiwi. Within a few minutes, I started feeling really funny. My mouth hurt, and I was feeling a bit sick. I spent the next few hours writhing about in agony and horrible nauseaXD. I think I've just now, after benedryl, a nap and a sandwich, started to feel a bit better.

Please be careful when eating kiwi. Some websites I've found say up to a fifth of adults are allergic to them. I'm not g

This morning, my mother told me she was afraid I was going to look back and my life and think of how boring and uneventful it was. And I know it's true... As old as I am, the most exciting things I do and have done is go to conventions. I never go out except to go to school or the grocery store. I see friends very occasionally. I spend most of my time inside, drawing and playing video games. Whenever the thought of going out comes up, I think of how much money it would cost and how saving that money would be smarter. I have to apologise for not being online very much. I have loads of comments to answer, but I've barely had ten minutes at a time to get on the computer. I've been working on a doujinshi project with :devpirrip: for AWA, and I've just started my senior year at uni.

I have a busy schedule, but it's actually quite fun. I actually have an English class about comics, and my professor has encouraged us to use Dragon*Con and AWA as resources for our class projects.

We actually didn't do very well in artist alley due to the island set up; people along the walls did a lot of business, and people in the islands got almost no traffic. I'm a senior in uni doing a degree in literature. At best, my writing is average. I've been spending a lot of time reading literature, writing papers, and writing stories. I'm just not that good at it.

On the other hand, I'm not great at drawing, either.

I don't know how to do anything but those two things-_-. But I don't feel like I'm good enough at either to make anything of them. So where do I go from hereXD? Maybe this is post-con depression which is very belated.

This is my second to last semester, but it seems to be my busiest semester ever. Unfortunately, I only really like one of my classes: Chaucer. Early British literature is just what I love most when it comes to school.

I thought about buying one this year, but I've heard the store-bought ones are disgusting and flavourless. Besides... I love making this kind of stuff from scratch.

This is the first year that I've actually made Christmas pudding on "stir-up Sunday"... That being said, I forgot to stir it anticlockwise, but it's already steamed-_-. I know it's supposed to keep forever without going off, but I didn't put very much peel in it, and I heard that was vital. It's saturated with sherry in its basin, right now, though, and I replaced the grease-proof paper on the top and bottom. I'm worried that I didn't let it cool long enough before putting it

So, I've been doing a lot of work on my new free online doujin. I have five chapters drafted, and I'm drawing the final pages for the first chapter. Here's what I'm wondering.

Would you prefer regular updates of one or two pages at a time or monthly updates of 15-20 pages at a time?

Since I seem to be on some kind of hiatus. Really, I've just been trying to get ahead on my new free doujin so I can make nice updates for everyone to read. I was thinking five pages a week would be a good rate to post it.

That being said, I've been thinking of something. Was the popularity of manga and anime  in North America just a fluke? It doesn't seem that they ever reached the popularity in North America that they did in Europe... Not to mention the fact that manga is a widely accepted media in Japan. There's still some anime on tv now, but it also seems like there's been a backlash against the Japanese media in America. Y

I can't really be disappointed, though. Half-ass efforts are what they do.

It should be pretty obvious to you how I feel about this. I don't pirate music. I buy software, and if I don't want to pay for it, I find a free version. I just draw lots and lots of fanart.
